Greyrocfield (/swansfield / [Translation Unavailable]) is a subtropical Town located in Vertgate Dutchy, Sifate Kingdom, within the Sylvanian Empire.

The name Greyrocfield is derived from the Sylvin language, as Greyrocfield was founded by Haeromben Drewry, who was culturaly Sylvin.

Climate

Greyrocfield has a yearly average temperature of 18°C (64°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 27°C (80°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cold 10°C (50°F). Greyrocfield receives an average of 144 cm/y (56 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the spring. Greyrocfield covers an area of nearly 4 km² (1 mi²), and an average elevation of 3234 m (10610 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Greyrocfield was founded durring the late 12th century in spring of the year 1092, by Haeromben Drewry. The establishment of Greyrocfield suffered from several major issues, resulting in the need to develop many solutions to basic problems. Problems such as a lack of fresh water, logistical support, poor quality tools, and the odd monster or two. Howeaver, these were overcome in time.

Greyrocfield was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the late 12th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Greyrocfield is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Greyrocfield is was constructed arround several broad cobblestone mainstreets which cross one another at certain axies, with smaller streets branching off of them to premit acess to the many buildings deeper into the road network. The overall fashion is remenessent of a circulatory system, or other organic construct, and is quite effishent in its design. The town is protected by a well-crafted cobblestone fence tall enough to provide adiquite cover for defenders to fire from, but no more than that. Astonishigly, the frontieer-style defences are in pristine condishion, as if they had just been finished before you laied eyes upon them.

Greyrocfield has a very calm atmosphere. People can be seen relaxing, scocilizing, and going about all manner of business other than the daily grind. Men, women, children, all can be seen enjoying life in a laid-back way in the many parks which line Greyrocfield ’s streets. A look around Greyrocfield has something terribly wrong with it. It’s impossible to put one’s finger on, but something is horribly wrong. Maybe it’s the way fog blankets the ground, but only in the connors of places. Maybe it’s the vermin scutteling between shadows in the corner of your eyes. Perhaps it’s the overcast sky which seemed to creep out of nowhere, or the distant howling of wolves. Maybe it’s everything together. Regardless, you do not feel it would be wise to remain in Greyrocfield long.

Greyrocfield has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Greyrocfield is home to a University which provides higher education in a variety of fields, and also serves as a research institute for those same fields.

Cultural Notes

Greyrocfield 's chapel was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is famous for its stately symmetry, classical elements, and grand appearance. Columns and pillars, such as Corinthian columns, are often seen supporting open structures or porticos. Symmetry is an important feature of this style, with each half of a building mirroring the other. Domed ceilings and windows grace these buildings, with everything placed in a mathematical arrangement.

In Greyrocfield most nights are accompanied by colorful ribbons of light in the sky.

The Dlurgraven near Greyrocfield are known to be more aggressive than normal.

Greyrocfield 's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in winter and involves consuming a local narcotic to channel Summoning energies of tier 1 via speaking in tongues.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century was ravaged by a deadly sickness. was the epicenter of the disaster, but Greyrocfield suffered the most. Greyrocfield lost 185 people, 265 livestock, and 88 buildings in the disaster.. The disaster is spoken of in hushed whispers as the Wrath of Anguish.
